But now I'm not sure just why I'm going to woolfest and the I Knit London day but there you go. (it might be to buy sock yarn, because from what i understand, sock yarn doesn't count as stash)

I think you're going so you can stock up on the yarn that just isn't available in Chile ;-) (and you can prob ask on one of the international Ravelery communities to find out what is and isn't common there-- at the very least, I know of one American lady who's spent a couple years there...)
