Is it just me, or is this plug ugly?  It was described on a knitting list as both a "Gorgeous Cape"  and as a "lovely wrap with generous proportions"

I think that has finally helped me to unsub from the list in question, which is a good thing^TM as lists are currently taking up too much of my life.

unfortunatley, I went and looked around the site.  oh god, that was a mistake!

Ewwwww. Mind you, I tend to find most US-sourced patterns bizarre in the extreme. Not just the styles, but the colourways used. And not just on websites but in magazines and books! There are some appalling combinations of colours in Shadow Knitting (my new reading matter), almost enough to put me off the entire concept (but luckily I can visualise the effect in, say, black and white and that just about salvages it).

Purple and blue are two colours that don't belong together in any quantity! And the thing is too buisy...just the eyelettey-bits, with maybe the bow-swoop-things would be nice in a Victorian kinda way... but the eylets, the lace, AND the ripples!??!?!?! Oh, lordy... they want people to waste good SILK on this thing!

Has it appeared on you knit what!??! yet?

(oh, um to answer your actual question.. I find nothing wrong with plugging something as generous of proportion... "gorgeous" is in the eye of the beholder, but isn't an ugly term..)

Do not take fashion advice from the ample knitters list! sizing, yes, but *nothing* else :)
