See that behind N's head? That was me trying to be subtle with my picture taking and not get arrested...

We went to McDonald's and the airport after school on friday - we hadn't done it since before i was in hospital in October. it's a favorite rainy friday afternoon activity. and really, McDonald's food isn't all that bad if you have it every 6 weeks or so.

anyway, there we were, munching away minding our own business, when a big huge pleece car parked behind us, blocking us in. then there was a tap on the car, and when i rolled down the window an armed to the teeth polisman invited me to step out of the car.

and then invited me to sit in the back of the pleece car. i refused becasue the kids were in my car, and they said they would leave the door open. then they asked where i'd come from. i said mcdonald's at thingummy, i couldn't actually remember what that bit was called, one of them helpfully supplied Newbridge.

then the heavily armed one asked if i knew why they were there. eh, nope. "your car was seen mounting the kerb". eh? then he said that my was seen driving erratically on the motorway and mounting the verge. aha! I was driving on and off the rumble strip becasue TT was pretending to be asleep!

it seems someone had called the police becasue i was driving erratically with unsecured children in my car. OK. after some thought, I can see why someone might have called me in for my driving, becasue if you weren't in the car, you wouldn't know that we were just having a laugh. but saying that my kids were unsecured? aye right. at least the polisman said right away "I can see that your kids are in seats, with their belts on, so they weren't unsecured" even parked at the airport, they hadn't taken their belts off. all i can assume is that whoever called the police wanted to make absolutely sure that I was stopped. but still: liars.

Mr heavily armed said to me at least 3 times that he had done it himself (driving on the rumble strips) to make his kids laugh, but they still took my license, wrote down all my details, asked who owned the car. then told me i could go back to my car.

i was told that they had cars waiting on both the M8 and M9 to stop me. So they were obviously taking it seriously. being stopped by blue flashing lights on the motorway might have been more exciting for the boys, they were pretty uninterested by it all, althoght T did call Bill and tell him that mummy had got in trouble with the police, after it was all over.

what is somewhat unsettling is that they told me that they had been over the other side of the runway when they got a call that my car was where it was (by the old sunday market). so, where are the cameras? i'm not surprised that there is surveillance there, but still unsettled by it. which means they know about all the times the boys have peed against the wall there becasue they were desperate....

anyway, then they parked next to me and sat there for 5 minutes. i guess they like watching planes too...
