Four weeks to wait
Sep. 13th, 2007 02:10 pmyesterday afternoon I was pretty down, but i seem to have picked myself up a bit today.
yesterday i had a lovely morning with Ruth, and then a very nice lunch with
cangetmad & co, and
hfnuala & A. indeed, i had a very nice perambulation around the garden at the gallery of modern art with Aisling, clutching my fingers and TODDLING. it was lovely.
but, i got home to a call from st johns; the surgery will more than likely be the 11th of october. we have to go out there tomorrow for a pre-admission clinic. not sure what that entails, but i suspect it won't be fun.
so, while it means i won't be spending my birthday in hospital, it means that it won't be all over by my birthday, and also that i will be spending the october half term week in hospital. the boys will be off school the week of 15 october. that's the week we were supposed to be going to Bath, as a sort of late birthday thing for dad-in-law. He turns 80 next thursday. never mind, my mum and dad will be here to look after the boys, and they will be able to come and see me at any time of day, not just after school when they will be tired.
anyway - We have booked a cottage up on the aberdeenshire coast for this weekend, as it's a holiday, will leave tomorrow after school and
get back monday sometime.
in other news, I have just ordered a set of Knitpicks Options Harmony Wood Interchangeable Needles to be sent to my mum & dad's address. my hospital knitting will at least look cheerful.
this probably means that i shouldn't start my next project yet and wait for those needles, but maybe i'll do a sleeve and then if the gauge is off it won't be too noticeable. this picture is only one repeat, but i like it and i should be able to do it without tearing my hair out. i started another lace pattern last night but i kept screwing up - this one is about the right level of difficulty for me right now.

So, can a woman have too many purple cardigans? this is wool mix DK, from coldspring mill. 980 grams I have - that should be enough. i must leanr what to do about shaping in lace - that's where i came a cropper with the wrap top - becasue i don't know how to do increases and decreases in lace, i dind't shape it at all. help? please?
