my purple sprouting broccoli is in trouble...

originally we had 6 plants. two of them were pretty much crowded out, so I cut them down to the ground in january. the remaining 4 have produced far more broccoli than we could ever ever eat. fabulous stuff, but far too much. then we went away for two weeks and it just got away from us. we managed to keep it in check a but and ate as much as we could when we got back, but in the last week or so we haven't been able to keep up, and now, well, it's bolted.
I don't know whether to cut most of it back and try to get it to keep cropping, or take it out and plant something else. we've decided to grow sprouting broccoli for the summer crop as well this year as it's so much more conveneient than having huge heads to eat all at once, but I guess we need to plant it somewhere else.
we already have potatoes and carrots planted, i think we basically swapped them round from last year's places. what's left to plant is yellow beans and sugar snap peas. must see which of those will grow where broccoli has been...
