yesterday was not such a good day. i was horribly depressed all day and don't really know why. from being the spectre at the feast at Gnome's birthday party, to lying my my bed at 2am unable to sleep.

the boys had a great time at Gnome's party, and no one seemed to mind that we turned up late and empty handed.

Bill and the boys went back out in the afternoon to some friends in Aberlady. I stayed home. I couldn't face seeing people that i haven't seen in a year or more and *explaining* it all again. and again. there's time when being the centre of attention just isn't what you want, you know?

they finally got home at about 7.45 far too late to eat the tea that i had cooked. i hadn't really expected them home for tea, but i cooked the cottage pie that Bill had originally planned anyway.

Bill helped me eat it later on.

today has been more of the same really. had a blood test this morning, and a call from the chemo ward to say that all my counts are fine, so we're on for Wednesday. the cold is nearly gone and doesn't seem to be a problem.

went to the supermarket. got dropped off at john lewis. they didn't have any of the rowan country that i need to make my pullover. the 12 balls that jenners had left won't be enough. i really need another 5 or 6. or just make the pullover for a smaller person. i bought some yarn to make a hat for me though.

and an indoor tv aerial for Barbara's room, except it doesn't work. we're in the shadow of Arthur's seat, so i'm not surprised. so it has to go back. oh dear, another trip to JL required.

we need a new big saucepan, which i was raised to call a dutch oven, and I almost got one in JL with the last of the wedding present vouchers, except that it couldn't be put in the oven, and well, what's the point of a dutch oven if it can't be put *in* the oven?

well, they had ones that could be put in, but i balk at paying £80.

luckily JL give you cash change and cash refunds when you use gift vouchers, so when i return the £30 aerial, added to other change, we'll have converted enough of the vouchers to cash to maybe have saucepan success in another shop.

and finally for shopping - i very much need me a copy of woolly wormhead's new book but i don't know whether to buy the bound version, or the spiral bound. i'm edging toward the spiral one, because i'd like it to lay flat. but i've got some badly spiral bound books that drive me nuts. should probably toddle over and ask the source if she's had any feedback.

here's to a better year

Just a quick line to say: here's to a much better year for you in 2008 and don't stress too much re Wormhead's book. Just get it! It is brilliant. I went for the "perfect bound", which will suit me just fine. Guess what I'll be knitting from tomorrow?

Oh, honey, you were just a fine guest yesterday. You're a friend, not a jester. *hugs* and see you soon.

I know the saucepans you mean, the le creuset ones (i want one too but refuse to pay £80). They have an outlet store in that place in livingston, but I don't think they are a lot cheaper
