For those who won't see this any other way (you know who you are and you should come!)
Date: Saturday 15th October 2005 1 to 4PM
Our "EXTREME KNITTING" event on Saturday the 15th is mostly for a laugh, we're going to climb up Arthur's Seat and knit, whatever the weather. With a picnic lunch. And flasks of tea, hot chocolate & brandy. Our point is that there's no such thing as a typical knitter, or typical knitting.
This is our contribution to National Knitting Week, so there is a serious side to it as well - HELP THE AGED is the sponsored charity for this year's event, so we'll be doing our best to Knit them into the limelight!
They are doing a roadshow in November based around their campaign 'Cold can Kill' and plan to give away hats, scarves and gloves to older people during this roadshow (mid to end November). So on the day, and for the rest of October, we will be knitting hats and scarves for Help the Aged, and if we feel adventurous some gloves too.
So, if you're coming along on the day, it would be wonderful if you could be knitting something for the appeal! Details of where to send your contributions to the appeal will be available on the day.
AND FINALLY - this is the fun bit, we will be part of CRAIG HILL'S OUT TONIGHT from the BBC. Craig will be joining us on top of Arthur's Seat to learn to knit himself a fashionable skinny scarf, with our help. Your chance to shine, and perhaps to go along to Glasgow to join the studio audience as well.
Rest assured however, if you'd rather just stitch & b*tch, you will be able to avoid the cameras.
So, let's have a great turnout on the day, and don't forget your fingerless mittens to knit with!
