so, do i spend some of the redundancy on the Husqvarna Designer 1 that i have seen advertised.  it's a lot of money.  but i have always wanted an embroidery machine.  and this one is all singing and all dancing.  and i could digitise my own images for embroidery.

but it would mean not getting this, but maybe just being able to get this instead.

what should I do?

HI! nice to meet you - although we've met over at [livejournal.com profile] buzzy_bee or [livejournal.com profile] bopeepsheep I'm sure already.
So...know anything about embroidery machines?

Mine is a Singer Quantum 9940, which is very good value indeed from this site! It is excellent, although I did have a problem one time when I crashed the computer. I suspect though that this was my fault, and it hasn't happened since.

A couple of ladies in my sewing group have embroidery machines, but neither are happy with them - I'm afraid I can't remember the makes or models, just that they aren't the same as mine! The thing to do is to go to a trade fair or exhibtion (there are several every year) and try them out for yourself (I know they have them in London and Birmingham, hopefully in Edinburgh as well). That is how my mother got hers a few years back, and that is what the leader of our sewing group recommends. Sorry not to be more help.

Nice to meet you too!
