uh oh!

Yesterday i decided that I needed some water soluble stabiliser for embroidering on knitted stuff.

So I went to Drummonds, and while I was there I happened to ask about the Elna 744 overlocker that I heard lots of good things about on the machine embroidery list. Of course he had one. Of course it was the last one. Of course it had free attachments with it. And of course £100 of free thread. And it was £575.

Which sounded like more than I had heard elsewhere. So I came home again, searched around and found it for £459 online. The upshot is that I went back and left the shop with it for £458 and £30 of free thread, to counter the £30 of free scissors the other place was offering (I didn't want scissors), but as it's an "online" price I don't get the free lessons. It's only now that I realise that I should have traded the thread for a lesson, as the lessons cost £30. But of course, the thread costs him nothing, the lessons cost a staff hour, so he'd have probably said no.

And now I have to sell my trusty Brother 929. And learn to live without the free arm.

I guess once I looked at my "Serger Secrets" book again there was no way I could wait any longer for the cover stitch.

But the only problem is, I never even learned how to use the Brother to its full potential in the 2.5 years I've had it.

I have some serious sewing to do!

(And I have promised Bill that I won't buy another sewing machine for 5 years. That's January 2011. Uh oh...)
