i've been crocheting for weeks and months, with just  a few rows of Bill's knitted pullover added in here and there.  BUT:  my wrist is starting to hurt - probably becasue of the lack of anti-inflammatories, so I think I need to knit.

having got bogged down in sewing, i haven't had time to plan any holiday knitting, so what am I going to do?  i've been through all my pattern books and can't find anyting that fits with what i have in the stash.  i don't have time to knit a tension square to make up a knitware pattern.  all i can think to do is use knitware to generate a shcematic for someting i want to make, and then do a swatch while i'm away and then use a calculatro and try and make it fit.

anyone see any pitfalls i should be aware of?  i have 900 grams of rowan cotton tape.  well, actually i have more than that, but i have 900 grams in blue.  maybe i'll take the black as well, just in case.

i'm hoping to try some "lace" knitting - a really basic one i found in the readers' digest needlecrafts book.  i'd love to try a wrap top.  (yes, [profile] hfnuala, i've been reading your copy of big girl knits!)

You should take up sock knitting. Small, portable, easy to calculate how many socks you will knit per week (in my case, about half a sock, for Shona, ten socks plus a shawl) and you can usually count on finding an emergency ball of sock yarn just about anywhere, if you run out.
